$6.50 - $12.00/square foot for quarter sawn Lead Time: 2 – 3 weeks Select Grade: White Oak lumber comes mostly from the South, South Atlantic , and Central States , including the Southern Appalachian area. The sapwood is nearly white. The heartwood is generally grayish brown. The wood is heavy, averaging somewhat greater in weight than red oak wood. It is used for furniture, flooring, doors, millwork, and more, and was formerly used extensively for ship timbers. Quarter sawn is distinguished by the broad and conspicuous rays. Quarter sawn and rift cut, in a select or country grade give the board a unique look. Please inquire about the difference between quarter sawn and flat sawn wood. Country Grade: For an antique country look character grade, with a variety of knots and defects, can be enhanced even more by skip planning and distressing the wood on site. Undesirable defects can also be removed on the job site. |
